Liberia’s multilateral diplomacy takes a historic feat

Breaking from Paris, France: Liberia’s multilateral diplomacy takes a historic feat as Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah, Minister of Education of the Republic of Liberia, represents the country’s objectives to achieve educational advancement. The 220th session of the UNESCO Executive Board continues on 14 October 2024 at its Paris headquarters, with global delegates addressing over 45 key agenda items.
Discussions include reviewing past resolutions, endorsing new initiatives, and preparing the draft 43 C/5 budget program to shape UNESCO’s future strategy. A major focus is the upcoming 2025 Director-General election, with Liberia participating on the Executive Board for the first time in 43 years. The session also focuses on strengthening partnerships with UNESCO’s global education, scientific and cultural programs.

Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah, Liberia’s Education Minister, delivered a speech highlighting the country’s educational progress despite challenges, advocating for more investment in teacher’s training, gender equality, youth development, and the reopening of the UNESCO Antenna Office in Liberia. Dr. Jallah reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to global education goals and called for continued support from UNESCO.
