Dr. Teeko Tozay Yorlay, Sr. has dedicated his career to public service, diplomacy, governance, and peacebuilding. His extensive experience in Liberia’s public administration, international diplomacy, and multilateral organizations underscores his commitment to national and global development. Over the years, he has played pivotal roles in foreign policy, governance, peacebuilding, and socio-economic development, demonstrating exceptional leadership in both national and international settings.
Currently serving as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Liberia to France, with concurrent accreditations to Spain, Portugal, Greece, Switzerland, Cyprus, and Monaco.
Dr. Yorlay is also Liberia’s Permanent Delegate to UNESCO. His mandate includes strengthening diplomatic ties, advancing Liberia’s interests at UNESCO, and managing Liberia’s representation across multiple jurisdictions.
Prior to his diplomatic appointment, he served in various capacities within the United Nations, including as Associate Political Affairs Officer at the Departments of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and Peace Operations (DPPA/DPO) in New York and Associate Civil Affairs Officer at the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO). His expertise spans political research, analysis and reporting, conflict resolution, peacebuilding, governance, and stabilization efforts in fragile regions.
Dr. Yorlay’s career in Liberia includes serving as Assistant Minister for Youth Development at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Technical Assistant at the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, and Assistant Superintendent for Development of Nimba County, where he managed multi-million-dollar development projects. His service in the Ministries of Finance, Internal Affairs, and Education, as well as Liberia’s House of Representatives, highlights his broad contributions to national development.
