President Weah Motivates In-Training Protocol Officers

Monrovia, Liberia – Over a one hundred government protocol officers undergoing a two-day training session have got fond words of motivation from the President of the Republic, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah, who has called on them to make maximum use of new skills and expertise being imparted into them.

At least 125 protocol officers drawn from all three branches of Government are undergoing a training course intended to improve their efficiency and effectiveness.

In remarks at the opening ceremonies on Friday, May 24, 2019, President Dr. George Manneh Weah described the initiative as essential and timely, adding that it would help the trainees perform well at state functions and other forums requiring protocol services.

He said the training provides an opportunity for protocol officers to be more knowledgeable and productive in the performance of their duties.

“This is a very good opportunity for our protocol officers,” President Weah said further. “It will help them be on top of their duties that require, amongst other things, dealing with diplomatic formalities, customs and etiquette and ensuring they are organized in advance, well-coordinated and professionally balanced.”

The Liberian Leader said in order for the protocol officers to be effective, it was important they were properly trained in handling important guests at programs, coordinating official ceremonies, arranging travels and itineraries.

“We therefore expect that our protocol officers take full advantage of the opportunity provided them to undergo the training course, and to conduct themselves diligently.”

Lecturers at the workshop include Amb. George W. Wallace, Advisor to the President for Foreign Affairs; Dr. Lawrence K. Bropleh, Special Envoy to the President of Liberia, and Amb. Emmett Kennedy, Ambassador At-Large, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Others are Dr. Jerry Brown, Chief Executive Ooficer John F. Kennedy Medical Hospital; Madam Mildred Dean, Chief Executive Oofficer International Learning Institute, and Hon. Deweh E. Gray, Deputy Minister for Legal Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
