Monrovia, Liberia – President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has officially dedicated the newly constructed Buchanan City Hall in Grand Bassa County and described Mayor Julia K. Bono as ‘a dedicated and loyal public servant’ amid an enthusiastic welcome by citizens of the county.

According to an Executive Mansion release, the Liberian leader made the remarks when she officially dedicated the newly constructed Bucnana City Hall on Friday 1st, April 2016. She said: “We applaud you today, you are a dedicated lawyer public servant”.
The Liberian leader said Mayor Bono’s leadership is an expression of humbled and exemplary citizenhip that comes with transparency, accountability, sincerity and gratitude on par with nothing short of modest brilliance.
She noted that she is a character who exemplifies the attitude of “hard work, commitment to duty and perseverance in getting things done”. “Imagine the difficulties she went through but with patience and commitment exhibited and today we have a brand new City Hall that the people of Grand Bassa are proud of,” she emphasized.
President Sirleaf furthered Mayor Bono placed loyalty and pride in service and duty before self, which she referred to as indeed a mark of essential selflessness and devotion for the people of Grand Bassa County. “We can all applaud the concerted efforts of a Liberian that have congratulated those who might have contributed meaningfully to the construction of the City Hall, some of whom she said could not have been here today”.
The Liberian Chief Executive used the occasion to thank the people of Grand Bassa and all stakeholders for their efforts in ensuing the construction of the 1first City Hall since 1833 in the Port City of Buchanan adding, “We applaud and cherish her work”.
Meanwhile, President Sirleaf pledged on behalf of the Executive Branch of government to support the construction of a playground in the tone of $4000.00 for the children of Bassa and encouraged the citizens to take care of the facility.
Speaking on behalf of Grand Bassa Legislative Caucus, Senator Nyooflee K. Lawrence praised the astute leadership role played by the City Mayor and her team for constructing a City Hall that has brought proud to Buchanan City and as well pledged to give US$ 20,000.00 on behalf of the Grand Bassa Legislative Caucus for the construction of the Children’s playground.
Also, making donations were prominent Bassa citizens and senior government officials including former Senator Gbehzohngar M. Findley, Board Chair, Cllr. Rose-Marie Banks James LCAA, Chief Zanzan Karwor, Dr. Abba Karnga, Chairman, Resilient Council of Bassa amongst others.
For her part, Julia K. Bono, Mayor of Buchanan City thanked President Sirleaf for the opportunity given her to serve her people and for the tremendous support she has received and continues to receive. Mayor Bono said the cost of the construction of the City Hall is US$ 295.000.00; an assistance that came from UMACO. She thanked the UMACO authority for the support in beautifying the city of Buchanan. Mayor Bono also lavished praises on the County Legislative Caucus for the spirit of coordination and support given.
Following the dedicatory ceremony, President Sirleaf and entourage toured the building and spoke of the need for more proper management and care. She thanked all of those who contributed immensely to the building and for forming part of the dedicatory ceremony of.
In brief remarks, Superintendent Levi J. Demmah, extoled President Sirleaf for her continued assistance to the People of Grand Bassa County. He said the development of Grand Bassa is one of the major priorities of the Unity Part-led government.
The program was graced by senior government officials, Chair and Members of Grand Bassa Legislative Caucus, citizens of Bassa, amongst others.
